Escape Christmas Celebrations
Travel Where Christmas Is Not Celebrated
Just because you cannot literally make yourself invisible doesn't mean you can't buy a plane ticket and escape to a place where Christmas is not celebrated. For example, just last year it was reported that during the week of 15th till 22nd of December many flights were seen with families leaving the U.S for gulf nations. Of course, in the 2023 even the gulf countries have become the avid supporter of the Pagan festival.
What you need to understand is that there are many places you can visit where you won't even hear a peek of XMAS. India, Thailand, Singapore, China, Japan & South Korea are many such examples where you wouldn't see an overweight guy in red suit uttering the following words: Ho Ho Ho after every two minutes. For sure, we are not suggesting that these nations are void of the XMAS spirit, there are many Christens living there so you will be able to see something. It won't be everything there, and that is what leaves the different taste.
Stay At Home & Relax
Another good practice to follow your Christmas Escapism is through channelling the inner peace. The best way to do which is by staying at home and making sure you are not disturbed. So, what you can do is to ensure that you don't feel obligated to decorate your house. No matter what anyone says about it, stand firm on your decision that you don't want to celebrate the festival and it is alright for you to feel that way.
Quite often this is not possible in practice and the biggest reason for that is the family pressure. Or peer pressure if you have loads of friends. In which case we will suggest that you communicate your will to your closed ones in proper and respectful manner.
It is very easy for others to take offence from something which can be a sensitive subject to talk about given the religious notion. Hence, it is your duty to ensure that no party is hurt by your sentiments, and neither are you pressured to do something which you don't want for yourself.
Communicate Your Preferences To People
Be honest. I don't remember who said it, but someone did, and it goes something like this: A half-truth is a whole lie. So, you should be clear with your intentions. Even though it is your right to go away from Christmas, as an adult there is nothing wrong if you feel you just don't cherish the celebrations.
Given the nature of festivities that are major component of any good XMAS gathering it is possible that your parents or siblings could be hurt by your choice. Or they might feel like it is them who you don't want in your life. In which case it is your duty to clear their doubts and assumptions. Make sure they are familiar with your sentiments regarding the occasion. Gauge their responses, keep an eye for supportive insights and work towards mutual cooperation.
Volunteer or Work
While I wouldn't put volunteering as the best choice for activity during the XMAS and New Year week, if you feel like you want a break, then by all means do it. Take a long break and head for the work. You don't even necessarily have to leave your home. It is quite easy nowadays to begin working on something just from your laptop. For instance, if you are a programmer then a week off from your usual 9-5 because of Christmas can be an excellent opportunity for you to learn a new language or a framework on which you hope to excel.
However, if your heart is set for community work, then people need all kind of help during the Christmas week. All you would need to do is present yourself as potential aid and I can bet you will get offers from many to do their bidding. Of course, as a responsible citizen we will suggest that you sign up for soup kitchen or building home for poor. After all, helping someone stand on their own and sharing happiness isn't only the XMAS gift, it can be result of your humanity too.
Create a Personal Retreat Somewhere
If someone will ask me to suggest them, how can they find the place to go away from Christmas I will with 100% surety points to the gym. Because this is the time when people are too occupied with celebrations and shopping that they conveniently forget to do work on themselves. As a result, we see ludicrous New Year resolutions which all of us know are never coming to fruition.
Although, if you are running short on Christmassy spirit then we feel going to gym might just give you that personal retreat you were hoping for yourself. Because during this time you can form a habit. Not to mention a personal retreat can be stimulating to mental health. Many people reports that they want to end their live during the festivities and the reason 90% of the time is anxious state of mind.
Or because they are depressed seeing the holiday pictures of their friends on social media. In which case, our number one suggestion to you would be to disconnect yourself from the digital media. Engage you mind and body in meditation. Try to learn the control over your emotions. Getting better grasp will only aid you in fulfilling your needs and desires.
Explore Cultural Alternatives
Just because you were born a certain way doesn't mean that you must confirm to the norms of what you were brought up in. So, if you want to escape Christmas and perhaps explore the other alternatives feel free to do it. Although we will suggest that you don't fill about this information to your family or any close friends. As we noted above these things can tend to be a sensitive spot for many and certainly no one wants the unneeded drama in their lives.
To do so you might have to travel (we have already talked about it), so travel. If celebrating Eid or Ramadan has been something of a fascination to you, visit the nearest area where majority Muslims resides. Talk to them. Familiarize yourself with their custom and traditions. Learn their values but most importantly try to find your happiness. What brings up that smile on your face, and until you couldn't find the exact reason, keep trying there is nothing wrong with anything.

Escape Christmas Celebrations
Host Your Own Non-Christmas Gathering
Just because billions celebrate the Christmas every year doesn't mean there won't be millions like you with wish to escape XMAS for at least one year. In which case start rounding them up. I'm sure you will find many who will be empathic with your cause.
Because despite the charm that festivities bring with them there is no lie, they can also be difficult time for many. Not everyone wants to go out and buy presents. Not everyone can even go out ant afford presents and quite often this becomes the catalyst for rogue thoughts.
Therefore, all you would need to do is host non-Christmas parties. Choose any theme you want, go for comic book era, or Taylor Swift showdown, it doesn't matter how you choose to celebrate the gathering as long as it is acting as buffer between you and Christmas bandwagon.
Another point to be noted here is that since it might not be enough to just throw the non-Christmas parties you can also opt for other activities. They don't necessarily have to be productive or even related to work. So, for example you can choose to binge watch Netflix shows with crowd. Or you can arrange the gaming arena within the premise of your home for guests to enjoy few hours without an ounce of thought of what Santa will be bringing.

Use the Time for Rest and Relaxation:
When I mention using the time for rest and relaxation during the holiday season, I'm suggesting that you take advantage of the break to focus on your well-being, both physically and mentally. Here are some ways you can incorporate rest and relaxation into your holiday season:
- Sleep: Catch up on sleep by maintaining a consistent sleep schedule. Use the holiday break to rest without the pressure of work or other commitments.
- Take a Nature Walk: Spending time outdoors, especially in nature, can have a calming effect. Take a walk in a park or go for a hike to clear your mind and enjoy the surroundings.
- Pamper Yourself: Treat yourself to a spa day at home. Take a long bath, use skincare products, or do anything that makes you feel pampered and relaxed.
- Engage In Hobbies: Dedicate time to activities you enjoy but may not have had time for during busier periods. Whether it's painting, writing, gardening, or any other hobby, doing what you love can be rejuvenating.
- Reflect and Set Goals: Use the downtime to reflect on the past year and set goals for the upcoming one. This can give you a sense of purpose and direction.
Many of them might appear like the ones we have already discussed, but here we have tried to showcase the different ways to advocate your escape from Christmas through focusing on you. It is our suggestion as well as recommendation that even if you must take difficult step, take it. Go for the kill, but don't let anyone dictate you or your thoughts around.
The Best Travel Destination For Christmas
Christmas Christmas Go Away!!!
In the end whatever you choose to do to go away for Christmas depends on you, but as parting advice we will suggest that you do ask yourself this once: Why do I want to escape so far during Christmas?
Many times, people don't realize but they have fallen within their own mind and can't reach any conclusion. Which as a result leads to a spiral of thoughts leaving them without the ability to react, act, or even the will to continue living a normal life. Of course, we are not suggesting that just because you feel like you want a break from sweet XMAS there is something wrong with you.
But given the inherent need that all humans share to have someone with them in good and bad times, it can be a concern if you don't feel like participating in anything. So, if that is indeed the case and you don’t feel the need of inclusion for anything, then contact medical help immediately. However, if it's not true, and you just want to have quiet 25th December then might we suggest booking tickets for Bali?
