Flights to the UK

The United Kingdom is one of the most connected destinations in Europe. London has four major airports; Manchester, Edinburgh, and others offer strong alternatives and often better fares depending on where you're heading.

Airports

Flight and airport guide

London: Heathrow (LHR) is the main long-haul hub. Gatwick (LGW), Stansted (STN), and Luton (LTN) have plenty of European and some long-haul flights—and often lower prices. Stansted and Luton are farther out, so factor in train or coach time and cost.

Outside London: Manchester (MAN) is the busiest airport outside London and has excellent European and long-haul links. Edinburgh (EDI) and Glasgow (GLA) are the main Scottish gateways. Birmingham (BHX) and Bristol (BRS) are good options for the Midlands and South West.

If you're touring the UK, flying into one city and out of another can save time and open up more fare options. Compare Manchester vs London, or Edinburgh vs Glasgow, depending on your itinerary.

Timing

Best time to visit UK

Peak times are summer, Christmas, and school holidays. For better value, look at January–March or October–November. Tuesday and Wednesday are typically cheaper than weekends. Booking a few months ahead usually helps.

Better-value fares

How to find cheap flights to UK

Use the search form above to compare fares to the UK. Enter your departure city and pick a gateway (or search by city). Try London, Manchester, and Edinburgh to see which works best for your dates and budget. When you see a fare you like, click through to book on our partner site; we don't charge booking fees.

Search nearby airports

A nearby airport can be cheaper than the obvious one, especially when a city is served by multiple airports or regional alternatives.

Avoid peak travel days

Friday departures and Sunday returns often cost more. Midweek combinations are usually a better place to start.

Look outside the busiest season

Shoulder-season trips can deliver better fares, shorter lines, and more flexible flight options.

Review the full trip cost

The cheapest headline fare is not always the best value after carry-on fees, seat selection, and airport transfer costs.
